I DID YOU NO HARM
I DID YOU NO HARM
Night scene in a butcher’s in old back street, Georgetown, Penang
I Did You No HARM.
My wife rolled on her side contented. Siblings Curly,
Thumbs, Scuffles tumbled in mud.
Charmy, PinPot , Trotters wallowed, snouted by the trough.
I, stress free, rooted in straw rustle.
In pig parlour well fed all.
With not a care I watched proud my family grow.
One dim dawn a man-army burst into our dream filled hoghood.
Grunts turned into fearful screams.
Men poked, prodded, netted all six little ones, rounded up for roasting.
My wife they dragged away dislocating her hips. For bacon fat.
I froze in the corner, they netted me.
A flash of cleaver last I saw.
It is terribly painful to see this! If man can’t show a little compassion to poor animals, how can he care for other human beings ?
I appreciate your comment. We are kind to those close to us and yet are capable of utter cruelty too. There is no reasoning.
Your website is vast, thank you for it. I am reading The Divine Vegetarianism.

I reached your blog accidentally! The Mallu curiosity about a Panikar! To me a cow or lamb or pig or elephant or horse or snake ~~ is a divine being: You have expressed your felling succinctly and I share that feeling too deeply ! I thought I will be dishonest to myself if I did not tell you that I will surely remember this simple elegant poem with no frills as long as I inhabit this earth ! This poem is modern but still it has an intrinsic rhyme and reason subtly concealed and revealed!
My adamant hope and dream is that once again the earth will become a divine Meta- space, a New Eden where lions will eat grass snakes eat rice paste and children will play with tigers as if they are kittens!
Nobody can prevent us pursuing a most impossible dream!

I have visited Hong Kong many times, thirty five years ago as A Cabin Crew with Air-India, tentatively lodged in Hotel Miramar! It was very difficult for me to manage as a vegetarian! The very air was fearsomely meat smelling~ But well I did! I have many random nostalgic memories ~ Perhaps I may write a personal impression about Hong Kong distantly stored in my memory , well, if it really happens!
